While I do miss having a real harpsichord, I am slowly sorting out how to turn these two "vintage" keyboards into a real instrument. The lower manual is a Yamaha KX88 and the upper a Korg M1, both from way back in the day, c.1985. Some of the sounds are perfect for playing JS Bach, Scarlatti and Handel, all born in the miraculous year of 1685. One night in the 1970's I was down in the old basement of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, working in the electronic studio next to the percussion room. I became aware of a beautiful throbbing sound coming through the wall and went out into the hallway and listened through the closed percussion room door for about an hour. The music suddenly stopped and the door opened. Inside were Steve Reich and Nexus rehearsing Drumming.
